How to Pick the Right Chiropractor for Your Needs
Finding the right chiropractor isn’t necessarily about finding the “best” chiropractor.
It’s about finding the right match for you.
There are many different chiropractic techniques and philosophies. Some chiropractors use traditional manual adjustments. Others specialize in sports rehabilitation, extremity care, pediatric care, or upper cervical techniques. Some use instruments, while others use primarily hands-on techniques.
There are also many different ways a chiropractor may incorporate soft-tissue work, movement, breathwork, craniosacral therapy, or other supportive therapies into care.
The important question is:
What kind of care does your body respond well to, and what kind of experience are you looking for?
What Makes The Flow Different?
At The Flow, my approach is centered around precision, gentleness, and connection.
My primary focus is helping your body find better organization rather than simply moving the spine around.
With upper cervical care, when appropriate, we can use detailed imaging to understand the structure of the upper cervical spine and identify areas of disruption. This allows us to be very specific about where and how we adjust.
The adjustment itself does not have to involve a lot of twisting, cracking, or popping.
For patients who prefer a gentler approach, I may use instruments such as the ArthroStim or Activator to provide a precise and controlled impulse.
For me, gentle doesn’t mean superficial.
Sometimes the gentlest approach allows the body to let go more deeply.
We Don’t Only Work With the Spine
The body is more than bones.
Your muscles, fascia, breath, nervous system, and movement patterns all influence how you experience your body.
That’s why visits at The Flow may include more than an adjustment.
Depending on what you need, we may incorporate:
- Myofascial release
- Craniosacral therapy
- Breathwork
- Gentle muscle release
- Soft-tissue work
- Upper cervical care
- Instrument-assisted adjustments
- Movement and nervous-system awareness
Sometimes the body needs an adjustment.
Sometimes it needs a muscle to soften.
Sometimes it needs fascia to release.
Sometimes it needs a deeper breath.
And sometimes it simply needs a quiet place to stop.
Your Appointment Is Time to Come Back to Yourself
One of the things I love about longer visits is that they give us time.
Time to listen.
Time to notice.
Time to work with the body instead of rushing through it.
Many of my patients tell me that their appointments become more than a time to address pain. They become a time to pour back into themselves.
Life can be incredibly loud.
Phones.
Work.
Children.
Traffic.
Notifications.
Schedules.
Constant sensory information.
Sometimes your body needs an hour where none of that is required.
You can lie down.
Breathe.
Feel.
Let your shoulders soften.
Reconnect with your body.
Come back into the present moment.
The Right Chiropractor Should Feel Like a Partnership
You shouldn’t feel like you’re being put through a routine that was designed for someone else.
Your chiropractor should listen to you and adapt care based on your body, your history, your goals, and how you’re responding.
Maybe you need a very specific upper cervical adjustment.
Maybe you need myofascial work.
Maybe you need gentle craniosacral care.
Maybe you need movement.
Maybe you need a combination of all of these.
There isn’t one perfect technique for every person.
Find the Care That Feels Right for You
If you prefer forceful adjustments and hearing a lot of popping, there are chiropractors who specialize in that style.
If you are looking for something more precise, gentle, slow, and deeply restorative, The Flow may be a better fit.
My goal is not to force your body to change.
It is to create the conditions where your body can begin to unwind, adapt, and find its own rhythm again.
**The right chiropractor isn’t simply someone who can adjust your spine.
It’s someone who can listen to your body.**
